All-on-4® Treatment Concept Implants

Are you missing all or most of the teeth on either or both of your upper or lower arches? Have you considered dental implants or dentures? Don’t know which one to choose? You might even want to upgrade your denture, but are reticent about getting so many implants. Why not go with a hybrid that combines the best aspects of each? The All-on-4® Treatment Concept is an innovative solution for individuals with significant tooth loss that might be right for you.

The Process

If you were to invest in regular dental implants, the treatment process would take several appointments, several procedures, and a lengthy recovery period. It would also be extremely expensive if you were to replace all of your teeth with dental implants.

So how does All-on-4 work? First, you would come in for an appointment and consultation with Dr. Picone. Dr. Picone would answer any questions you might have, determine your eligibility, and take impressions and x-rays.

One of the challenges of traditional implants is bone loss and finding a suitable spot on the jaw to anchor the titanium rod of the implant. Bone loss will occur at a more rapid pace when you lose a tooth because there is not enough weight on the bone to keep it strong, so the bone recedes. If there is not enough bone mass in the desired area, you would have to undergo a bone grafting procedure. After a period of recovery, you would come in again and have a second surgery to install the dental implants.

With the All-on-4® Treatment Concept we would only install four implants, and bone grafting is often not necessary. Once the implants have been placed, we will affix a temporary prosthetic onto the implants. You will be sent home to heal. After you have finished healing, you will come back in, and we will replace the temporary prosthetic with a permanent one.

The Benefits

•  Graftless: No bone grafting necessary.
•  Realistic: Your All-on-4 prosthetic will have a true-to-life appearance that is indistinguishable from real teeth.
•  Permanent: Built and designed to last you for the rest of your life.
•  Restorative: You will be able to eat and talk as you would with natural teeth.
•  Functional: Unlike dentures, your prosthetic will not slip and slide around in your mouth.
•  Shortened treatment time: Replacing all of your teeth with implants will take several procedures. By comparison, All-on-4 is much quicker.
•  Proven: All-on-4 was first developed in 1997 by Nobel Biocare. Since its inception it has restored the smiles of over a hundred thousand patients. During that time, they have been able to conduct trials and tests to ensure that the treatment is effective long-term.
•  Easy to take care of: Once your permanent prosthetic is installed you will not need to remove it for cleaning. In fact, you will care for it the same way you would natural teeth, by brushing, flossing, and rinsing with mouthwash. However, you will need to be gentle, as it is possible for you to scratch the prosthetic.
